John Nix

As an engaging and effective student communicator, as well as a veteran of youth ministry for more than 15 years, John is God-centered and committed to the Bible's authority. His high-energy messages are engaging and humorous.

 

Brent Gambrell

Nationally Known Speaker. Brent has been a traveling speaker for 13 years. -His edgy, yet animated style offers up biblical principles with unparalleled honesty and humor.

 

Dave Paxton

A student ministry veteran of 38 years, Dave Paxton has served churches in Tennessee, Texas and Florida. He attended the University of Tennessee, Carson-Newman College and holds a Masters Degree from Southwestern Seminary, in Fort Worth, Texas. Hobbies include Scuba Diving, snow Skiing, motorcycling, and fishing and he has over 350 Skydives. He is a frequent conference leader, speaker, and has written numerous articles and lessons for national publications. Dave is a freelance speaker and conference leader. He and his wife, Sharon, reside right outside Nashville, Tennessee.

 

Tom Richter

Since 1998, Tom Richter has emerged as a nationally known speaker. Senior pastor of New Hope Christian Church in Queens, NYC, Tom has a love for people and for the Lord that translates into genuine, fresh messages that both challenge and encourage.

 

Rob Turner

Rob Turner, lead teaching pastor at Apex Community Church. Turner lives in Dayton with his wife, Angela, and their four children, Rachel, Gabriel, Christopher and Chloe. Turner graduated from Northern Kentucky University in 1999 with a B.A. in communications and received his Master of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2000. In 1998, Turner began speaking for a Generation X ministry in Dayton called Apex. The ministry grew into what would eventually become Apex Community Church. The church met for the first time in January 2002. Turner has been a large part of the history of Crossings serving many years as camp pastor. His passion to see lives change is infectious!

 

Allen Jackson

Allen has been a Professor of Youth Ministry at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary since arriving in 1994 after being in several local churches as minister to students. His job at the seminary is to be a youth minister to youth ministers. He has done interim work as a pastor and as a youth pastor since coming to the seminary. He is the founder and director of the Youth Ministry Institute.

 

Andy Neely

Andy has spent the last 15 years of his life investing in teenagers.  Along the way he has enjoyed his share of pick-up games, endured many all-nighters, and subsisted on nutritious meals of pizza and camp food.  His desire is to help students encounter Christ and to encourage them to submit their lives to Him.  He does this through his genuine, insightful teaching and through doing life with them.  He currently lives Jackson, TN where he is a husband, father of two girls, and a pastor to students.

 

Bruce Roberts

Bruce is a real guy with a real passion to connect people to a real God who really saves. His desire is to see people of all ages walking in the reality of the gospel of Jesus Christ that changes people from the inside out. Bruce currently serves as the Children's Minister at Rich Pond Baptist Church in Bowling Green, KY.

 

Dustin Schadt

Dustin is married to his college sweetheart April and they have 2 little girls. Working with students as a church youth pastor allows Dustin to communicate the truth of God's Word with relevancy and awareness of youth culture. His conversational style builds a bridge to both churched and unchurched students to show them the focal importance of the gospel. Dustin holds a Ph.D. degree in youth ministry and is thrilled at the opportunity to speak to young people.

 

Scott Ogle

Scott is the lead pastor of Abner Creek Baptist Church in Greer, SC. He has spent the better part of two decades pointing students to Christ in churches in Kentucky, Georgia, and South Carolina. Scott received his Masters degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. He and his wife, Lana have been married for 16 years and they have a 13 year old son (Micaiah), and an 11 year old daughter (Abby). By the grace of God and for His glory, Scott longs for people of all ages to be awakened by the gospel (Romans 1:16) and to discover their role in the story of redemption (2 Corinthians 5:18).

 

Blake Kersey

Blake is orginially from Paducah, KY and currently serves as the Children's Minister at FBC Trussville in Trussville, Alabama. He moved to Alabama in 1998 to attend Samford University and has been there ever since. Blake is married to Lindsey, loves to play tennis, racketball and run. He's a big UK basketball fan and loves Alabama football. He has been on several mission trips, including Zambia, Turkey, Thailand and El Salvador. Overall, God has overwhelmed him with the opportunity to work with kids to teach them the importance of living out the gospel in their lives.

 

Fletcher Lang

Fletcher has been speaking to children and youth for the past seven years at various churches, retreats and camps. Fletcher's passion is to see God's glory magnified by preaching Christ from the Scriptures in a relevant and interesting way. Fletcher and his wife, Megan, live in Louisville, KY where he serves on staff at Sojourn Community Church as their East Campus Kids Director.

 

Jared Kennedy

Jared serves as director of children’s ministries at Sojourn Community Church, a multi-site congregation in Louisville, KY. He is married to his college sweetheart Megan and has three daughters, Rachael, Lucy, and Elisabeth. Jared’s calling is to teach kids to love and trust Jesus in language they will understand and to train and equip men and women who will do the same.

 

Dave Paxton

A student ministry veteran, Dave Paxton serves as the Director of Student Ministries with the First Baptist Church of Hendersonville, Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville. He attended the University of Tennessee, Carson-Newman College and holds a Masters Degree from Southwestern Seminary, in Fort Worth, Texas.

Dave and his wife Sharon have served in Hendersonville for over six years. Dave’s hobbies include Skydiving, Scuba Diving, snow Skiing, whitewater kayaking, skateboarding, fishing, motorcycling and just hanging out with teenagers.

He is a frequent conference leader, speaker, and has written numerous articles and lessons for national publications connected with student ministry. There are over eight hundred active students in the Student Ministry at First Baptist.

 

Dan Dewitt

Dan is a sketching, writing, thinking, coffee drinking, husband, father, pastor, creative combatant who leads a killer communications department at Southern Seminary and pastors the Campus Church. Dan, his wife, and three sons live in Louisville, KY.

 

Derek Hopperton

Derek is the Spiritual Life Coordinator at Christian Academy of Louisville. He has a Masters in Christian Education from Southern Seminary and several years of experience working with youth and children. He was on Crossings camp staff in 2006 and is thrilled to be back as camp pastor. He and his wife, Whitney, attend Highview Baptist Church in Louisville where Derek teaches Sunday School and small group bible studies.

 

Tim Akin

Tim Akin, Student Pastor at Highview Baptist Church Fegenbush Campus. Akin lives in Louisville with his wife, Anna, and their two sons, Levi and Judah. Akin graduated from Southeastern College in Wake Forest NC in 2007 with a degree in Biblical Studies and is currently pursuing an Masters of Divinty from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Before going on staff at Highview, Akin and his family served overseas for two years in Central Asia. He has a passion to see students lives changed by Jesus Christ and to impact a lost world with the Gospel.

 

Camp40

Camp40 is an exciting, intense version of our regular Crossings camp. Imagine all the same great elements of camp: large group worship, small group Bible study, The Blob, Bazooka Ball, climbing wall, field games, fishing, and the list goes on. Take those elements of camp and cram them into a 40 hour period.
